The ski area

From Courchevel you can ski straight into Méribel, Val Thorens and Les Menuires. Beginners have gentle green runs above 1850 and around Le Praz, while experts head for the couloirs of La Saulire. The resort is known for its excellent grooming and modern lifts.

Which village should you stay in?

  • Courchevel 1850 — the most exclusive: ski-in/ski-out chalets, Michelin-starred restaurants and luxury boutiques.
  • Courchevel Moriond (1650) — sunny, relaxed and great for families.
  • Courchevel Village (1550) — quieter, with a gondola up to 1850.
  • Le Praz (1300) — a traditional village among the pine trees.

When to go

The season runs from early December to mid-April. Christmas, New Year and the February school holidays are the busiest weeks; January and March often offer the best value and quieter slopes.

Getting there

The nearest airport is Chambéry; Geneva and Lyon are about 2.5 hours by road. By train, travel to Moûtiers, then take a transfer up the valley. Courchevel also has its own altiport for private flights.
